Background
Jameelah Lewis, is an ACTIVIST for social change, equity, and anti-violence. Since graduating from Hug High School (’14), Jameelah has committed to supporting communities across the country to activate their voices for power in efforts of creating a better future for the next generation. After graduating in 2018 from UNLV with a BA in Criminal Justice minoring in African American and African Diaspora Studies Jameelah was leaving a life of being involved in university and national social justice networks to focus her energy on community restorative and transformative justice movements. Eager to find her next calling Jameelah became involved with organizations such as Advocates for Youth, YP4, FCNL, and Mass Liberation Project Nevada. As an activist, Jameelah has been able to create space for people to heal through art, legislative action, protest, and just showing up to offer support. While being an activist will always be an important role for Jameelah, she also wears a plethora of other hats like being an aunt, daughter, granddaughter, friend, and now a business owner. As she explores new creative pursuits centered around joy, she is excited to take her ability to center happiness into all spaces.
